What our tools do
YourLegalAid.ca tools explain Canadian and Ontario legal rules in plain language, help you organize facts and deadlines, and may generate a draft or document from the answers you provide. Where a tool produces a result, the product should identify the source rule, record, or citation that supports it. You remain responsible for checking the result against the current official source.
What our tools do not do
No tool on this site assesses every fact in your situation, gives legal advice, represents you, guarantees an outcome, or makes a filing or other legal decision for you. A result can be incomplete, out of date, or unsuitable for your circumstances. Do not treat a preview, estimate, draft, or research result as a completed legal service.
When to seek professional help
Speak with a lawyer or paralegal licensed in Ontario if a hearing or deadline is approaching, your home, money, immigration status, or safety is at risk, the other side has representation, or the output does not fit your facts. You can check a professional's licence and practising status in the Law Society of Ontario Lawyer and Paralegal Directory.
If cost is a barrier
Legal Aid Ontario says financial eligibility and the type of legal issue both affect access to its services. Its Service Finder can help identify services and offices, and its community legal clinic directory can help locate clinics. Each clinic sets its own eligibility guidelines.
Coverage
The products are scoped to Canadian law, and most are specific to Ontario. A different province or country may use different rules, forms, deadlines, and services.
