Landlord Lookup · Methodology v0.1

No source, no finding.

The public card reports published records through hard evidence gates. It does not publish a numeric score, and community feedback cannot change the records-based band.

What the lookup reports

Each card summarizes published Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board orders and court rulings connected to one landlord entity. Corporate and property records may help match names, but they cannot support a displayed concern finding on their own.

Real landlord names are copied verbatim from published decisions. Different numbered corporations are never merged.

Five guarded dimensions

Lease clarity / RTA compliance15%80%3 findings
Eviction rate15%75%5 orders

A dimension appears only after both its confidence floor and minimum sample are met. Every displayed finding links to at least one published order.

The 60% coverage gate

Coverage is the combined weight of dimensions that pass both gates. If coverage is below 60%, the card says Not enough data. At or above 60%, the result is one of three public bands: Limited concerns, Some concerns, or Significant concerns.

The internal calculation is never serialized or displayed as a public score.

Windows and exclusions

The concern band uses the most recent five calendar years. Decisions from the most recent ten years remain browsable. Uncontested pure-arrears matters are not treated as a concern signal.

Corrections and data status

Email corrections@yourlegalaid.ca. Factual corrections are free, the response target is five business days, and disputed content may be hidden while it is checked.

Real LTB bulk ingestion remains disabled until CanLII grants access. The current interface therefore uses clearly labelled fictional fixtures.
